Buyer's Guide - Laptop Buying Guide in India
A laptop is one of the best devices to be carried around with you for doing serious work or just for gaming. These are compact and lightweight, hence doesn’t feel too much hefty in a bag or in hand.
There is no doubt that tablets and smartphones are always popular and their technology is advancing too. But laptops always make it easy to do everything from typing a research paper to watching the video to gaming. So which laptop should you get? Which one is the perfect fit for you?
There's a wide range of sizes, features and prices available, which makes picking the right laptop a challenging task.
First of all, you need to figure out what your needs are in order to make the right call. Here are few features to look at before buying a laptop.
Choosing by Size
Choosing by Type
Choosing by Specifications
Extended Warranty – Should you Buy or not?
Most laptops are covered with a standard warranty of one year on defects arising due to parts and labour. These warranty doesn't include any accidental damage coverage like damage due to liquid or damage due to dropping.
To cover such kind of damages, most manufacturers sell accidental warranty in addition to the standard one but it comes with a huge amount. You will end up spending 4-5 thousand for a year of accidental warranty.
You will also have an option to buy an extended warranty within the period of standard warranty. The extended warranty will cover your laptop for a few more years from manufacturing defects.
We recommend that if the warranty costs you more than 20% of the total cost of the laptop then it's better to use that money to buy a backup device or SSD to reduce the load on the system.
You can also decide a price tag in your mind for warranty if you feel like some important or costly part might turn out to be defective. But this is a rare case, if a part is faulty it will show its defects within the first year only.
The defects arising after a year are mostly due to wear and rear of the laptop.
